DRUK PATH TREK
ITINERARY FOR THE TOUR
DAY 01
| Arrival in Paro |
| Arrive at Paro International Airport and receive a traditional Bhutanese welcome. After completing airport formalities, transfer to your hotel. Your guide will brief you on the trek. If time allows, take a short walk around the town to observe local life. Overnight stay in Paro. |
DAY 02
| Explore Paro |
| Discover the historic Drukyel Dzong, strategically built to protect Paro Valley in the 17th century. On a clear day, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Chomolhari (7,320m). Return to hotel for overnight. |
DAY 03
| Trek to Taktsang Monastery |
| Hike uphill for 2–3 hours through quaint villages and pine forests to reach the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), where Guru Padmasambhava meditated in the 7th century. Immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere. Overnight stay at lodge. |
DAY 04
| Trek to Jele Dzong |
| Trek through the beautiful Paro Valley to Jele Dzong, a moderate 4–5 hour hike. Set up camp at 3,100m, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and mountain views. Overnight at campsite. |
DAY 05
| Trek to Jangchulakha |
| Continue your trek through lush rhododendron forests to Jangchulakha (3,650m). In winter, you may encounter yak herders along the trail. Camp overnight at this scenic location. |
DAY 06
| Trek to Jigmelangtsho Lake |
| Hike along ridges to reach Jigmelangtsho Lake (3,600m). Enjoy the alpine scenery and the chance to spot giant trout in the lake. Overnight stay at lakeside campsite. |
DAY 07
| Trek to Phajoding |
| Trek past two alpine lakes and through dwarf rhododendrons to Phajoding. From here, admire the majestic Mount Gangkar Punsum (7,520m). At night, enjoy views of the illuminated Thimphu Valley. Overnight at camp. |
DAY 08
| Trek to Motithang & Drive to Thimphu |
| An easier day trekking downhill through pine forests to Motithang (around 3 hours). From Motithang, drive to Thimphu for overnight stay. |
DAY 09
| Thimphu Sightseeing & Drive to Wangdue |
| Visit Thimphu highlights including the Painting School, National Library, Royal Goldsmith, and Handicraft Centers. In the afternoon, drive (~3 hours) via Dochu La Pass to Wangduephodrang, descending into the warmer Lobesa Valley. Overnight in Wangdue. |
DAY 10
| Visit Punakha Dzong |
| Explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, once the capital of Bhutan, beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers. Overnight in Wangdue/Punakha. |
DAY 11
| Departure |
| After lunch, transfer to Paro Airport for your onward flight, concluding the Druk Path Trek adventure. |
